Our vision

Tennis Australia is committed to creating a future where women and girls are equally valued, visible and included. The Women and Girls Strategy 2022–2027 sets out our five-year plan to address barriers and improve gender equality in tennis.

It is supported by a $12 million Australian Sports Commission Federal Government grant.

Our strategy is built around three strategic priorities:

  • Lead – Drive accountability through equitable investment and community engagement.
  • Influence – Strengthen pathways, visibility and voice.
  • Play – Enrich experiences to increase participation and retention.

How we're tracking?

Tennis is one of the few global sports in which women and men compete on the same stage, earn equal prize money and have equal exposure. 

We recognise we can always do more as we continue to strive for equality, inclusion and diversity throughout the sport, both on and off the court.

Lead - Drive accountability

Gender pay gap TA employees 2023-24.

TA female employees recorded a 10.1 per cent gap in average base salary and 11 per cent in average remuneration. Median figures show smaller gaps of 4 per cent for base salary and 2.6 per cent for total pay.

Participation budget

50 per cent of the Tennis Australia Participation budget is invested in women and girls.

Prize money

50.5 per cent of prize money is awarded to women at Australian professional tournaments and endorsed events.

Performance budget

48 per cent of the Tennis Australia Performance and Player Development budget is invested in women and girls.

Influence - Create an equal voice

Leaders

41 per cent of Australian Tennis Leaders are women, down 1 per cent.

Club Presidents

26 per cent of Tennis Australia Club Presidents are women, down 3 per cent.

Officials

38 per cent of Tennis Australia Officials are women, up 1 per cent.

Board members

45 per cent of Australian Tennis Board members are women, down 3 per cent.

TA Leadership

44 per cent of all Tennis Australia Executive and Senior Managers are women, up 2 per cent.

Coaches

32 per cent of Australian Coaches are women, up 2 per cent.

Play - Enrich playing experiences

Girls

46 per cent of Australian children playing tennis are girls, up 2 per cent.

Women

40 per cent of Australian adults playing tennis are women, down 3 per cent.

2 Australian women ranked in the Top 100 singles, up 2.

23 Australian women are ranked in the WTA World’s Top 500 in singles, up 3.

3 Australian women are ranked in the Top 100 doubles, up 1.

27 Australian women are ranked in the WTA World’s Top 500 in doubles, up 7.

20 Australian girls are ranked in the ITF World Juniors 500, up 2.
